A project exploring the combined media of nature, collages, printing and painting. I began looking at photographs and magazine images of nature, either cutting them out or covering them with ripped coloured paper or photographs of flowers to create something different and interesting.

 

To take this further, I worked from my own photographs, taking the photos in my grandparents’ garden as it is surrounded by tall trees and they have many plants. Combined with this I added Lino prints, creating them by choosing different photos of flowers I had taken and transforming them into prints. Mixing the media, together I aimed to create small contemporary prints of my family in a landscape, collaging over their bodies and printing over the top with a Lino cut.

 

The idea of this was to look at spring and summer, and combine it almost with the picturesque and pastoral, choosing bright and cheerful colours in my work to make themcontemporary. It has been an exciting project to do, working with collage which I would not normally choose.

 

The artists that have influenced me the most throughout the project are John Stezaker, Skinny LaMinx, Stephen Chambers, Bryan Nash Gill and Sergei Sviatchenko, taking influence from different parts of their practice.
