Flower Series
This is a series of flower paintings which have been made with ink. I began with just black ink then gradually
added colour. These have been painted with a variety of sticks, then for the colour Iused brushes to better manipulate and blend them. They have been painted on to wallpaper liner, making them as big or as small as I wanted and refined later onto textured
papers.

In the second study of this medium I started almost how I finished the last, making ink paintings with the sticks and adding colour. I then began to focus more on the lack of self-control I have when using the sticks and really going with it. Studying the shape of the flowers, I sketched on top of photographs with a smaller stick, practicing the movements and shapes of the petals, allowing the flimsiness of the stick to ping in different directions.
Working from photographs I have taken and collected over the summer, I began making longer wallpaper-like rolls, looking at Japanese scrolls for inspiration. Continuing with making more wallpaper I started to film myself making them, making time lapses of 3 paintings, one being the two piece in my studio space and testing another out on plastic sheeting.
